a few cases recorded in the literature. Much of the information here given is quoted from Cohen and Jones.f In animals this phenomenon is known to occur and is not so uncommon in them as in the humans. Klein (1902) first observed it in horses. Later, Landsteincr (1903) studied this phenomenon in greater detail. Ottenberg and Thalhimer (1915) observed it in a cat. It was experimentally produced in rabbits by Rous and Robertson (1918). They showed that experimental bleeding increases the agglutination if already present. According to Whitby and Britton (1942) 'autoagglutination is often well marked in haemolytic icterus and other hajmolytic anaemias, it is a characteristic feature of paroxysmal hemoglobinuria, and is occasionally found in Raynaud's disease (Benians and Feasby, 1941), severe anaemias, trypanosomiasis, spirillosis, myeloma and cirrhosis of liver. They also say that bacterial contamination of normal cells may result in their developing pan-agglutinating properties. In human beings ?this phenomenon has been recorded in the following clinical conditions :? 1. Chronic mitral endocarditis with broncho-pneumonia. In this case it was present in the patient's daughter also (Clough and Richter, 1918). 2. During convalescence from pneumonia, this patient

Auto-agglutination in Albumin.
An example of the ;albumin' auto-agglutinating phenomenon is reported. This was found in the serum of a man dying from carcinoma of the stomach with liver secondaries. It is suggested that the serum factor is of a protein (probably globulin) nature, and may have been produced by the diseased liver.
